OnePlus has just released two new upper mid-range smartphones in China as cheaper alternatives to the OnePlus 15 (curr. $899.99 on Amazon). While international launch details for the Turbo 6 and Turbo 6V still remain unknown at this point, popular Weibo account Digital Chat Station has already moved on to what OnePlus has next in store.
As usual, the leaker has not named the device directly. However, current thinking lends towards the notion that Digital Chat Station is hinting at the rumoured Ace 6 Ultra rather than an expansion of OnePlus' nascent Turbo series. Setting naming aside, Digital Chat Station asserts that OnePlus is developing a smartphone with the 'performance variant' of MediaTek's Dimensity 9500 chipset.
Presumably, MediaTek will market this chip as the Dimensity 9500 Plus, with the Ace 5 Ultra having leveraged the Dimensity 9400 Plus last year. Moreover, Digital Chat Station adds that the unnamed device combines this chipset with a 6.78-inch OLED display that outputs at 1.5K with a 165 Hz refresh rate but without true variable refresh rate support.
Also, current prototypes are said to feature circa 8,000 mAh batteries, retail units could exceed a 9,000 mAh capacity to match OnePlus' alleged internal targets. While a release date remains unknown for now, we would not be surprised to see OnePlus replacing the Ace 5 Ultra in late May to coincide with the device's first anniversary.
