The cat is out of the bag when it comes to Xiaomi's latest and greatest smartphone. Unveiled in China at the end of last year, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra combines 50 MP primary, 50 MP ultra-wide-angle, 50 MP primary and 200 MP telephoto cameras with a 6,800 mAh silicon carbon battery and the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset found in other modern flagships like the OnePlus 15 (curr. $899 on Amazon).
Arguably, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra is also the first next-generation Ultra-branded smartphone, too. However, it may not be the first to receive an international release. Unfortunately, one of the Xiaomi 17 Ultra's key selling points may not grace the device's global model. For this generation, Xiaomi is expected to cap its Ultra smartphone at a 6,000 mAh battery globally for a circa 12% downgrade on its Chinese counterpart.
Incidentally, this is the same battery capacity found on the Chinese version of the Xiaomi 15 Ultra. Moreover, early findings indicate that the Xiaomi 17 Ultra will offer 90 W wired charging capabilities regardless of whether you opt for a global model or a Chinese import.
As it stands, the Find X9 Ultra, Galaxy S26 Ultra and the Vivo X300 Ultra are all set to debut within a few weeks of each other from late February to early April. The Xiaomi 17 Ultra could make its international debut around that time too, with Xiaomi expected to showcase the device during MWC 2026 between March 2 and March 5.
