Samsung has not replaced the Galaxy S25 Ultra yet (curr. $1,019 on Amazon). Based on recent leaks, the company plans to announce the Galaxy S26 Ultra and cheaper flagships on February 25. However, leaker Ice Universe claims to have already received key information about the so-called Galaxy S27 Ultra.
A few days ago, the same leaker suggested that Samsung was planning to introduce major camera upgrades with next year's release. In summary, Ice Universe reported that the Galaxy S27 Ultra would feature new primary, front-facing and ultra-wide-angle cameras compared to those included in the Galaxy S26 Ultra.
Writing on X, Ice Universe now reports that Samsung will switch to the ISOCELL HP6 for the Galaxy S27 Ultra. While the state of other camera upgrades remains unknown for now, the same leaker claims that the new sensor retains the same sensor size as the ISOCELL HP2 inside recent Galaxy S Ultra generations.
Consequently, the ISOCELL HP6 should deliver a 1/1.3-inch optical format. In other words, Samsung is unlikely to adopt a 1-inch style primary camera anytime soon, like current-generation Xiaomi and Oppo Ultra-branded flagships. Apparently, other 'new technologies' are coming to the ISOCELL HP6 too, although the extent of these changes is unlikely to emerge anytime soon.
