Galaxy S27 performance leak: Ultra, Pro models with UFS 5.0 to leave base S27 in the dust?

While the Galaxy S26 series hit the shelves relatively recently, leaks regarding next year’s Galaxy S27 lineup are already surfacing.
According to the most recent rumor, Samsung is planning to adopt the UFS 5.0 storage standard for its next-generation flagships, though the upgrade may be exclusive to the new "Pro" and Ultra models - likely due to cost-cutting.
UFS 5.0 promises a massive performance leap, reaching speeds of up to 10.8 Gbps - effectively doubling the 5.8 Gbps sequential performance of UFS 4.0. Historically, Samsung’s flagships have pioneered these standards. For example, the Galaxy S10 was among the first flagships with UFS 3.0, while the Galaxy S23 series debuted UFS 4.0.
Currently, no smartphones on the market feature UFS 5.0. Given that the Galaxy S27 series isn’t coming until 2027, it is highly likely that Android rivals will beat Samsung to the punch by adopting the new storage type in late 2026.
In case you missed the news, the Galaxy S27 series is rumored to introduce a high-end "Pro" variant alongside the standard Galaxy S27 model. Meanwhile, the Galaxy S27 Ultra might finally see a major camera upgrade to Samsung’s upcoming 1/1.12-inch ISOCELL sensor. We also expect to see a 2nm Snapdragon 8 Gen 6 vs Exynos 2700 processor split.
