The Galaxy S27 series is shaping up to be a more meaningful upgrade over its predecessor in more ways than one. The latest information suggests that the lineup could see a camera setup design change.

We’re still quite a few months away from the Galaxy S27 series, but there have been a lot of leaks and rumors already. Despite Samsung’s efforts to curb leaks, information seems to be escaping somehow. The latest is that the Galaxy S27 series could finally get a rear camera setup redesign after years of the same triple-vertical orientation. As to why Samsung is planning a redesign, it’s because of magnets!

According to reliable leaker Lanzuk over on the Naver blog, one source related to the company has informed them that there is a possibility of a rear camera redesign for the Galaxy S27 series. The company is said to be reviewing the design changes, which mainly include the rear camera placement. Interestingly, this renewed design – or something similar – is said to be making an appearance soon in a different phone.

While it’s unclear what the new design looks like, the reason for this is said to be magnets. Samsung is expected to add magnets to the Galaxy S27 series to allow for accessories to work directly, without having to use specific cases. MagSafe compatibility was anticipated for the Galaxy S26 series as well, but that never happened. However, there have been multiple reports suggesting the Galaxy S27 series will get the upgrade. Moreover, all the phones in the lineup seem to be getting this treatment and not just the Galaxy S27 Ultra.

If this does come to fruition, the new design will end the long-running streak that started with the Galaxy S21 in 2021. That when the three cameras were vertically positioned on top of a small island. Since then, Samsung has made minor tweaks like getting rid of just the island, but then brought it back for the Galaxy S26 series. The plane orientation has become a staple for Galaxy S and Galaxy Z series phones.
