New Xiaomi entry-level phone only promises 2 OS updates from Android 15

Xiaomi is now selling another new Redmi A7 series smartphone in India. Initially, the series started with the Redmi A7 Pro 5G. Shortly afterwards, Xiaomi unveiled the Redmi A7 and Redmi A7 Pro 4G, which remain exclusive to India for the time being.
While the Redmi A7 drops the Pro moniker, it contains the same Unisoc T7250 chipset as the Redmi A7 Pro 4G. By extension, this means that the Redmi A7 will match its predecessor when it comes to performance too (curr. $97 on Amazon). In fact, the similarities between the Redmi A5 and Redmi A7 do not end there.
For instance, the Redmi A7 retains a 5,200 mAh battery with support for 15 W wired charging. However, Xiaomi has added 7.5 W reverse wired charging support this time around. Similarly, while a 6.88-inch and 720p IPS display features with a 120 Hz refresh rate, it can now reach 600 nits instead of 450 nits.
Unfortunately, Xiaomi has downgraded the 32 MP and f/2.0 rear-facing camera inside the Redmi A5 to a 13 MP and f/2.2 alternative. Also, the Redmi A7 can only be configured with 3 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage. Available in a choice of Black and Sky Blue colours, the Redmi A7 retails for INR 14,999 (~$159) but is discounted at launch to INR 10,499 (~$111).
