Apple iPhone 17 Pro and Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra get 600 mm tele camera with Reeflex Ultra

While smartphone manufacturers such as Oppo and Vivo now offer their own telephoto converters for smartphones such as the Find X9 Ultra and the X300 Ultra, Samsung and Apple are lagging behind the trend. Reeflex is now making up for this, as the accessory manufacturer has introduced a new 300 - 600 mm telephoto converter for the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra, for the iPhone 17 Pro ($1,099 on Amazon) and for the iPhone 17 Pro Max.
However, the marketing is a little misleading, as the lens transforms the periscope telephoto camera of the iPhone 17 Pro (Max) into a camera with a 35 mm equivalent focal length of 300 mm. The advertised 600 mm is only achieved when using digital zoom, which reduces the resolution from 48 megapixels to just 12 megapixels. However, even 300 mm is a big leap compared to the 100 mm that the iPhone's camera usually offers.
The telephoto converter packs four lenses into a metal housing that is 7 centimetres long, has a diameter of 5.5 centimetres and weighs 308 grams. With a minimum focus distance of 6.8 meters, the lens is not suitable for macro shots. The front of the lens is magnetic, allowing proprietary ND, polarizing and UV filters to be used, although these must be purchased separately.
Pricing and availability
The Reeflex Ultra Tele-Converter is currently being funded on Kickstarter. In the "Super Early Bird" offer, the lens costs $280, while the retail price is set to rise to $445. A protective case for mounting the lens on the smartphone is included, although this is only available for Apple iPhone Pro and Samsung Galaxy S Ultra models. The manufacturer delivers worldwide, the price does not include shipping costs, import sales tax and customs duties.
