Apple iPhone and MacBook to get exciting AI photo features

The Apple iPhone 17 ($799 on Amazon) offers relatively few AI features compared to many Android smartphones. This could change with the release of iOS 27, because according to a new report from Bloomberg, Apple is set to add artificial intelligence-based features to the Photos app, including on iPadOS 27 and macOS 27.
The operating system updates are expected to be released in September or October. So far, the Photos app only offers an AI function that allows you to remove distracting objects from photos, but this function performs rather modestly compared to the comparable tool on Samsung Galaxy and Google Pixel smartphones. In iOS 27, the Photos app is to receive a completely new tool category called "Apple Intelligence Tools", which will offer three additional functions in addition to the "Clean Up" feature already mentioned.
"Enhance" is intended to automatically improve colors, exposure and image quality - Apple already offers an "Enhance" function, but it is not yet based on AI. "Reframe" can change the perspective of a photo after it has been taken; the missing image details are generated by AI. "Extend" can extend photos, for example if a close-up is taken and context is to be added; in this case, the missing data is generated by AI too. Aside from these photo features, iOS 27, iPadOS 27 and macOS 27 will primarily receive an AI-supported Siri version and performance improvements.
