Soon-to-launch Xiaomi flagship phone tipped to feature brand-record battery capacity

The Xiaomi 17 Ultra might not be the last addition to the 17 series, as recent reports suggest that the company is working on another flagship phone for the lineup. Rumored to be called the Xiaomi 17 Max, it will be the fifth addition to the series, and it could launch soon. Digital Chat Station, a reliable Weibo leaker, has now shared some core specs of this upcoming smartphone.

Per the recent report, the Xiaomi 17 Max will pack a battery with a capacity of around 8,000 mAh. This would make the upcoming device the largest battery smartphone in the company's portfolio, moving the Redmi Turbo 4 Pro to the second spot (12/256 GB curr. $299.19 on TradingShenzhen). The leaker adds that there will be support for 100 W fast charging through wired and 50 W through wireless mode.

Digital Chat Station also notes that this upcoming flagship phone will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, the same SoC that powers the other devices in the Xiaomi 17 series. The front will reportedly have the same design as the others, featuring slim bezels on all four corners, but it's unclear whether the back will feature a secondary display.

The leaker further adds that the rumored Xiaomi 17 Max will come with a better periscope camera than the non-Ultra models, but there won't be much of a difference in terms of the primary sensor. There's still no concrete word on the release date yet, but recent reports have suggested that the launch is set for Q2 2026.
