Acer is guaranteed an award for absurdly long product names, such as the Acer Predator Helios Neo 16S AI. We recently had the opportunity to see whether the rest of the product lives up to expectations. Equipped with a GeForce RTX 5070 Ti, the 16-inch laptop falls between the mid-range and high-end segments. The base model currently costs around $1900.
While some aspects, such as the connectivity options (Thunderbolt 4), the input devices and the OLED display (apart from its highly reflective surface), are quite solid, there are also a few weaknesses. For example, the graphics card's TGP is often not fully utilized, and the storage system occasionally throttles after extended use. Acer could also improve the battery life, as most competitors perform better in this area. On the other hand, the two RAM and SSD slots are a plus, facilitating future upgrades.
Overall, the 16-inch laptop struggles against other similar laptops. The MSI Vector 16 HX AI and the Lenovo Legion 5 Pro, for example, are at least on par and even score slightly better in the overall evaluation.
