Verdict: ExpertBook PM3 is a solid office laptop
With the new ExpertBook PM3, Asus has an affordable and good office computer on offer. It has a sturdy aluminum casing with sufficient ports, good maintenance options, comfortable input devices, and decent speakers.
The Ryzen AI 7 350's performance is also good, but you have to install a second RAM stick for maximum iGPU performance.
In addition to the regular AI features from Microsoft, Asus has implemented a few additional and useful AI tools. The battery life is long lasting, but the display quality is not really convincing.
Basically, it is sufficient for office work with acceptable factory calibration, but the color reproduction is weak and color space coverage is low.
All in all, the Asus ExpertBook PM3 is a solid office laptop and the €979 retail price also includes a three-year warranty, which is not often seen in this price range.
Asus also guarantees software and BIOS updates for 5 years.

Asus offers several office laptops in the ExpertBook series, and we now get to see the new ExpertBook PM3 — an AMD model with Copilot+ certification.
In this review, we take a look at the ExpertBook PM3 featuring the AMD Ryzen AI 7 350, Radeon 860M, 16 GB RAM, 512 GB SSD, and a matte Full HD IPS panel that currently retails for €979.
Specifications
Case and equipment: Quality workmanship
Asus uses a gray aluminum chassis, giving the ExpertBook PM3 a very high-quality look. There is a small, polished edge on the top of the base unit and the black keyboard provides a nice contrast.
The lid opens to a maximum angle of 180°, and there are no problems with either the stability or the workmanship. The laptop offers good upgradability options including 2x SO-DIMM, 2x SSD, and WLAN.
There are plenty of ports including Gigabit Ethernet, although USB4/Thunderbolt 4 and a card reader are absent. The MediaTek Wi-Fi 7 module achieves very good and stable transfer rates. The 1080p webcam, which features a mechanical privacy shutter and an IR sensor, does not take particularly good pictures.
The ExpertBook PM3 is a Copilot+ laptop and in addition to the AI functions of Windows, Asus also offers its own business-focused tools that are easily accessible via the ExpertPanel software.
These include, for example, an AI meeting manager that records, transcribes, analyzes, summarizes, and offers easy watermarking for presentations.

Input devices: Comfortable keyboard
The keyboard with black key caps is illuminated and offers a very comfortable typing experience thanks to its generous travel and precise stroke. However, the keystrokes could be a little quieter.
A fingerprint sensor is also integrated into the power button at the top right. The 13 x 8.5 cm touchpad offers good gliding properties and works without any problems. The lower area can be clicked mechanically, and the noise is not too loud.
Display: 60 Hz IPS with no PWM
The ExpertBook PM3 can optionally be equipped with a 2.5K IPS panel with a 144 Hz refresh rate. Our test configuration uses the standard Full HD model with a 300 cd/m² brightness and 60 Hz refresh rate.
The image quality of the matte IPS panel is basically okay for getting work done — it is not grainy and is sufficiently sharp. However, it is a very simple panel with low color gamut coverage. There is no PWM flickering and the response times are unremarkable.
The advertised brightness is slightly exceeded, and the measured contrast ratio is good at 1,231:1.
In our analysis with the professional Calman Ultimate software from Portrait Displays, the factory profile shows a good grayscale display without a blue cast. However, the colors show the weaknesses of the inexpensive IPS panel and that it is not very amenable for image editing.
We can still improve the display minimally with our own calibration, but this is not visible to the naked eye and is therefore not necessary.

Test conditions
We carried out our tests in the default Standard fan mode.
Processor
The CPU used is the AMD Ryzen AI 7 350, which is a Zen 5 Krackan Point APU. This can briefly consume 50 W, but then quickly drops to 41 W and finally to 28 W.
Overall, the CPU performance is good and also better than that of most competitors. In battery mode, the processor can consume a maximum of 24 W (-15% multi-core).

Storage devices
Our unit came equipped with a Micron 512 GB SSD with 391 GB free. The drive offers average but stable performance. Optionally, the laptop's storage can be easily expanded with the free M.2-2230 slot.

GPU performance
The integrated Radeon 860M helps with the graphics output but suffers from the single-channel memory of our test device. Of course, this is perfectly sufficient for everyday office use, but you should consider installing an additional RAM stick if you want to play some games after work.
The GPU performance remains stable in battery mode and under constant load.

Energy consumption
Overall, the power consumption is unremarkable. We measured a maximum of 6.9 W in idle mode and briefly up to 76 W under load, but this quickly levels off at ~48 W. The supplied 90 W power supply unit is therefore perfectly adequate.
