The new Asus ExpertBook PM3 is an affordable office laptop with a 14-inch screen. For €949 ($1,149), you get an aluminum chassis with comfortable input devices, sufficient ports, and a modern AMD Zen 5 processor. The performance, however, is only one part for a business device, but aspects like the default warranty period of three years and the five-year software/BIOS support are also big advantages.
The ExpertBook is a good rival for the Lenovo ThinkPad E14, which is also available with AMD CPUs. However, the ThinkPad still uses older Zen 4 models, so both the CPU as well as the GPU performance are lower compared to the ExpertBook PM3. Both devices offer good maintenance options (2x SO-DIMM, 2x SSD).
You should be careful with the display choice. The default options are IPS screens with the Full-HD resolution, 300 nits brightness, 60 Hz refresh rate and low color gamut. You can obviously work on them, and it should not be a big deal if you attach your laptop to a large external screen most of the time. If you primarily use the integrated screen and have some budget left, however, we recommend you get the optional screen options. The ExpertBook PM3, for example, is available with a 2.5K IPS screen (144 Hz).
