Asus reveals upgraded ExpertBook B5 G2 laptops with Intel Panther Lake and longer battery life

Last month, Asus released three new ExpertBook business laptops, including the ExpertBook B3 G2 with AMD Gorgon Point and the ExpertBook Ultra with Intel’s high-end Panther Lake Core Ultra X9 and X7 processors, which we had a chance to try out. Now, the company is adding another model to the lineup that appears to replace the ExpertBook B5 from last year.
The new ExpertBook B5 G2 is a lightweight laptop aimed at business users. It comes in 14-inch and 16-inch sizes and starts at around three pounds, which makes it a bit heavier than the 2.2-pound ExpertBook Ultra. This time around, Asus swaps out the Intel Core Ultra Series 2 chips from the previous model for the newer Series 3 lineup, with configurations going up to a Core Ultra 7 366H. With up to 50 TOPS on the NPU and up to 64GB of DDR5 RAM, there should be enough headroom for local AI workloads and heavier multitasking.
Apart from the CPU upgrade, not much else has changed. The overall design looks largely the same, and buyers still get a choice between 2560 x 1600 and 1920 x 1200 resolutions on both screen sizes. These are 16:10 matte IPS panels with TÜV Rheinland eye protection and up to 400 nits of brightness. However, there is now an optional touch display. Asus is also quoting longer battery life, up to 19 hours compared to 15 hours previously, even though the battery capacity remains the same.
As a business laptop, there is much focus on security and AI features. Asus says the ExpertBook B5 G2 includes a NIST SP 800-193-compliant BIOS, TPM 2.0, dual BIOS support, and fingerprint login for added protection. It also comes with Copilot built in, alongside additional AI tools in the Asus MyExpert suite. Other highlights include Wi-Fi 7, MIL-STD-810H durability, and a versatile ports selection, including Thunderbolt 4, HDMI, and USB-A.
Both the 14-inch (B5405CAA) and 16-inch (B5605CAA) models are now listed on the Asus website but there is no pricing or availability details yet.
