Tesla is now selling no less than six Model Y versions globally, after introducing a larger Model Y L in China, a Model Y Performance trim, and now, a second Model Y Standard edition.
Called the Standard Long Range, the newest Model Y trim has been released in Europe at a price that sits in between the Premium tier and the base model.
Tesla's golden middle is something else, though, as the new Standard LR trim offers the longest range on a charge of any Tesla Model Y sold there, but it is priced €7,000 higher than the base and only €3,000 less than the Premium RWD edition.
2026 Tesla Model Y Standard LR range and price
The Tesla Model Y Standard Long Range offers the same comparatively slow 7.2 seconds 0-62 mph acceleration, hence the same 300 HP motor as the base Standard trim, but comes with a larger battery that delivers 657 km (408 miles) on a charge.
That's on the local WLTP standard, though, which is 10-15% more generous than the EPA estimates, so if Tesla ever launches the new Model Y Standard LR edition in the US, it will probably have a range close to the Premium RWD edition's 357 miles on a charge, but at a lower price point.
The base Model Y Standard trim with 534 km (333 miles) range costs €40,970 in Germany, but the new Standard Long Range version price is €47,970, so it's up to the European customer to decide if 70 more miles or so are worth seven grand more.
After all, for just €3,000 extra, they can get the Premium RWD edition that comes with the same battery size but faster acceleration, vented and motorized leather seats, a light bar, a panoramic glass roof, a HEPA filter, matrix LED headlights, acoustic glass, and a better stereo system, as well as double the amount of colors to choose from.
In the process, they'll only lose about 15 miles of range or so but get a much better SUV, so it's not exactly clear what market Tesla targets with the new Model Y Standard LR trim in the hope of stemming its abysmal sales drop in Europe.
