The lawsuit accuses Roblox of "willful disregard and deceptive practices" in its conduct as a platform for potential misuse by predators. The 42-page complaint has detailed (and rather severe) accusations for Roblox.

Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill announced on August 14 that her office has filed a lawsuit against Roblox Corporation. Murrill accuses the platform of failing to implement adequate safety measures, creating a breeding ground for predators targeting the younger user base.

In a post on X, Murrill announced:

“BREAKING: Today I’m suing Roblox - the #1 gaming site for children and teens - and a breeding ground for sex predators. Due to Roblox’s lack of safety protocols, it endangers the safety of the children of Louisiana.”

The lawsuit was filed in Louisiana’s 21st Judicial District Court and accuses Roblox of unfair trade practices, unjust enrichment, and negligence. It seeks a permanent injunction to prevent Roblox from violating state laws or misleadingly promoting safety measures.

The 42-page complaint has detailed severe accusations for Roblox, claiming that the platform has “knowingly enabled and facilitated the systemic sexual exploitation and abuse of children across the United States, including in Louisiana.”

It goes on to detail the offenses in a case that might essentially be focused on forcing the cooperation behind the platformer to implement some sort of ID verification at the time one signs up.

The suit described Roblox as “the perfect place for pedophiles” due to its lack of age verification, allowing adults to pretend to be children and access explicit user-generated games like “Diddy Party” and “Public Bathroom Simulator Vibe.”

The suit further referenced a recent case in Livingston Parish where a man was arrested for possessing child abuse material while using Roblox with voice-changers to mimic a young girl and coerce other minors.

Adding to the chaos might be platform-level restrictions for users who were seen by many as a last line of defense: Roblox has recently announced the removal of “vigilante” users from the platform who independently policed the gaming site by posing as children to expose predators on the platform.

This included the ban of YouTuber Schlep, whose efforts led to multiple arrests. Roblox sent a cease-and-desist letter to Schlep for sharing personal information and engaging in simulated child endangerment conversations.

Roblox shares were down 6.34% on Friday on the NYSE after the news broke. Despite this, the company remains 99.42% higher year-to-date (YTD), indicating it has outperformed most of its peers considerably in 2025 even after accounting for its current legal hiccup.
