Huawei's latest flagship phones are finally launching globally, and they're coming with a few updates. The Huawei Pura 90s Pro and the Pura 90s Pro Max feature a main camera with a variable aperture The top-of-the-line model also includes a 200 MP telephoto camera.

The Huawei Pura 90 Pro series was announced in China back in April, and now Huawei has unveiled the global versions of the two flagship smartphones. The specifications remain largely unchanged. As before, Huawei has opted for a particularly eye-catching design featuring a glossy frame, a triangular camera module, and, optionally, a gradient-colored back panel.

Both smartphones use a HiSilicon Kirin 9030S ARM chip with 12 GB of RAM and feature a 5G modem, which is unusual for globally available Huawei smartphones, which previously had to forgo 5G due to U.S. sanctions. Although Huawei includes a 6,000 mAh battery, in the EU its capacity is limited to 5,270 mAh due to a lower voltage. The top-of-the-line model can be charged via USB-C at 100 watts and wirelessly at 80 watts, while the Pura 90s Pro is limited to 66 watts and 50 watts, respectively.

The two biggest differences are the display and the cameras. The Pura 90s Pro, with a screen diagonal of 6.6 inches, is slightly smaller than the 6.9-inch Pura 90s Pro Max, though both models feature a 120 Hz LTPO AMOLED panel. Huawei always includes a 50-megapixel main camera with a 1/1.28-inch RYYB sensor and a variable aperture that can be adjusted from f/1.4 to 4.0, but the modern LOFIC sensor is only available on the more expensive model.

The Pura 90s Pro also offers a 12.5 MP f/2.2 ultra-wide-angle camera and a 50 MP f/2.1 telephoto camera with macro mode and 4x zoom. The Pura 90s Pro Max, on the other hand, features a 40 MP f/2.2 ultra-wide-angle camera and a 200 MP f/2.6 telephoto camera with a 1/1.28-inch RYYB sensor and 4x optical zoom.

Pricing and availability

The Huawei Pura 90s Pro is available in Malaysia with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of flash storage for RM 3,699 ($909). The Huawei Pura 90s Pro Max, with 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage, costs RM 4,899 ($1,199). Huawei has not yet confirmed further details regarding pricing and availability in the rest of the world.
