The Samsung Galaxy A57 still has room for improvement.
The Galaxy A57 5G impresses with its high-quality design and long-term software support, but falls short of expectations in a few areas. For the next model, Samsung should focus on improving the camera, battery, connectivity, and features.

The Galaxy A57 5G is a solid mid-range smartphone that stands out above all for its slim design, high-quality build, and long update guarantee. At the same time, the review shows that Samsung is still leaving some potential untapped in certain areas. As a result, there’s a clear wish list for the upcoming Galaxy A58.

The biggest point of criticism is battery life. Despite a 5,000-mAh battery, the Galaxy A57 falls short of its predecessor in our test. For the Galaxy A58, Samsung should not only focus on increasing battery capacity but, above all, optimize energy efficiency. The use of a battery with a higher energy density would also be desirable. There’s also room for improvement with the cameras: While the 50-MPix main camera delivers decent results, it barely stands out from cheaper competitors. For the Galaxy A58, better image processing, a wider dynamic range, and—above all—a higher-quality ultra-wide-angle camera would be desirable. A telephoto lens might be ambitious in this price range, but it would significantly enhance the overall package.

Samsung should also step up its game when it comes to features. The USB 2.0 port seems outdated given the price range. USB 3.2 with DisplayPort support would make the smartphone more versatile. The Galaxy A57’s display (buy it here on Amazon) is one of its strengths, but a higher PWM frequency would be a sensible improvement. This would allow Samsung to offer a more comfortable viewing experience even for sensitive users. An even higher peak brightness would also be a plus to keep up with the best mid-range models.

When it comes to design, however, Samsung hardly needs to make any improvements. The slim body, high-quality materials, and IP68 certification are among the device’s best features. This approach should be maintained. The Galaxy A58 doesn’t need to be a revolutionary device. A longer-lasting battery, a better camera, modern ports, and small usability improvements could turn a good mid-range smartphone into a truly compelling overall package.
