Insta360 X6 leaks as more compact 8K action cam with 360-degree mode at higher price

The Insta360 X5 ($549 on Amazon) is likely to get a successor very soon, as Winfuture was able to track down the Insta360 X6 at a retailer. The action camera appears to have undergone a major redesign, as the body is significantly shorter, making the Insta360 X6 barely larger than a conventional action camera.
The manufacturer has installed a camera on both the front and the back. On one side, there’s also a small touchscreen with heavily rounded corners, which is used to operate the Insta360 X6. A shutter button and a power button are located on one side. Microphone openings can be seen on four sides of the body. The bottom features a tripod mount. A small LED on the side without the display indicates that recording is in progress.
While the Insta360 X5 could record 360-degree videos in 8K resolution at "only" 30 frames per second, the new model is said to enable 8K recording at 50 frames per second, theoretically allowing for double-speed slow motion. No further details about the specifications are available yet, so it remains to be seen whether Insta360 will also make improvements to 4K slow-motion, image quality, or battery life.
In any case, the more compact body and the higher 8K frame rate are expected to come with a price increase. While the Insta360 X5 was released in April 2025 for €589, the Insta360 X6 is expected to cost €689 without accessories, a so-called "Essentials Bundle" is reportedly being offered for €789. The launch date has not yet been announced, but since the camera has already been listed by a retailer, it likely won’t be long before it launches.
