Affordable Redmi Note 17 Pro launches with bright AMOLED, large battery, and new SoC

After days of teasers, the Redmi Note 17 Pro is now available to purchase. This affordable phone is one of the first smartphones to feature the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4, a new mid-range SoC from Qualcomm. It has a 4nm design and promises to bring better GPU performance in this price segment.
Of course, the new SoC isn't the only highlight of this budget Xiaomi phone. It comes with a 6.83-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 2772x1280, a 120Hz refresh rate, and a 240Hz touch sampling rate. The most notable aspect of the screen is its 3,500-nit peak brightness rating, which, paired with DC dimming and the ability to go down to 1 nit, should lead to a comfortable viewing experience in different lighting conditions.
Another big highlight of the Redmi Note 17 Pro is the 9,000mAh battery, which is another notable upgrade over the predecessor. It has 67W fast charging support, and the 22.5W reverse charging ability can essentially convert the phone into a power bank when required (Iniu 20K 65W power bank curr. $46.99 on Amazon).
On the back, the affordable phone features a 50MP primary camera with an f/1.8 aperture and a 1/2.76-inch sensor. The samples shared show that the sensor has a relatively high dynamic range, and it can capture detailed images, at least in daylight. It's paired with a 2MP depth sensor, and the front sports an 8MP selfie shooter.
Design-wise, the Redmi Note 17 Pro has a less prominent camera island on the back when compared to its predecessor. It looks more like the standard iPhone 17, but with a wider camera island.
Price-wise, the Redmi Note 17 Pro is available in four configurations, and the one with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage costs CNY 1,599, about $235. There's one with 12GB of memory that bumps storage to 256GB, and it retails for CNY 2,199, around $295. The phone is expected to launch globally soon.
