The Redmi Note 17 could debut in India in August

Xiaomi's Redmi Note 17 could be coming to India in August. The phone is expected to debut with a massive 8,000mAh battery to set it apart from the pack, though it has middling specs elsewhere. Alongside the Redmi Note 17, Xiaomi also launched the Redmi Note 17 Pro.
According to a tipster, the Redmi Note 17 is launching in India on August 6, with sales opening on August 11. This comes just a month after the Redmi Note 17 line was launched in China.
The Redmi Note 17's biggest selling point is its impressive 8,000mAh battery. That's a large upgrade over the previous handset's 5,800mAh battery. One could imagine squeezing a day or two out of it before having to engage the 45W fast charging to refill it. The other unique point here is its large 7-inch OLED display. It has a resolution of 2396 x 1080 pixels and is capable of reaching a 120Hz refresh rate.
Unfortunately, the rest of the specs are more budget-focused, with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 SoC powering it, a maximum of up to 8GB of RAM, and 256GB of storage. The cameras are also a budget affair, with a single 50MP rear camera and an 8MP selfie shooter.
August 6 is just around the corner, so we don't have long to wait to see how these rumours pan out. While little is known about pricing, the Chinese models are priced at CNY 1,299, or about $191, for the base model with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, while the higher-end model with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage goes for CNY 1,699, or about $250.
