Galaxy S26 Ultra: Samsung to roll out update for annoying issue

In the past few days, there have been increasing reports of Galaxy S26 users experiencing a strange red discoloration on their displays. According to a report from South Korean news outlet News1, Samsung has now found the cause; it is not the hardware failure many owners feared. Complaints first surfaced from users who have had their devices for three to four months or longer, sparking concern about permanent OLED burn-in.
After examining affected units, Samsung concluded that the discoloration stems from a software issue, namely new screen optimization technology introduced to the S26 Ultra that does not work as it should when the phone is exposed to strong lighting while running at maximum brightness. The issue is fixable through optimization of color-correction software rather than a hardware repair.
For now, affected users must visit a Samsung service center to receive the update. Samsung says it plans to roll out the fix more broadly soon for those unable to visit a service center in person. In sum, S26 Ultra users experiencing the tint can expect a solution soon without needing to have the screen replaced.
