It's a shopper's dream: getting more than one bargained for. A Japanese Amazon customer received an unexpected surprise after ordering a single Intel Core i5-14400 processor and finding five retail boxes inside the package. The buyer shared an image of the delivery online, showing the stack of CPUs and explaining the confusion over receiving several more units than originally ordered.

Amazon has not confirmed the exact cause of the mix-up. The mistake may have been caused by a warehouse processing error. Some users have suggested that Amazon’s system may have scanned the barcode on an outer distribution carton containing five processors, incorrectly treating the entire package as a single item. Either way, a single Core i5-14400 sells for roughly 36,000 yen (about $220), meaning the shipment's total value topped $1,100 — five times what was actually paid.

Rather than keeping or selling the extra hardware, as many users have suggested, the customer opted to contact Amazon and arrange for the return of the four additional processors. The buyer ultimately kept only one Core i5-14400, turning what could have been a costly shipping mistake into an example of an honest response to an online retail error.
