Pebble Time 2 struggles with display cracks and faulty buttons, warranty is valid for only 30 days

The Pebble comeback isn't going quite according to plan. Eric Migicovsky, the original founder of Pebble, announced in the spring of 2025 that the Pebble 2 Duo and the Pebble Time 2 would pick up where Pebble left off after its bankruptcy in December 2016. Finally, in January, the Pebble Round 2 was announced as a successor to the Pebble Round, promising significant improvements with a much larger display and a battery life of up to 14 days.
Due to manufacturing issues, the shipment of the Pebble Round 2 has been delayed. Production is now scheduled to begin in July instead of May as originally announced, but Pebble hasn’t provided customers with an update on the current status for weeks. Meanwhile, the Pebble Time 2 is already being shipped to customers, who are, however, encountering serious issues. On Reddit, customers are sharing photos of a Pebble Time 2 with a cracked screen almost daily.
Well, f**k.

According to user reports, the display breaks even with minor bumps. This is likely due in part to the fact that the glass protrudes slightly from the metal frame, leaving the vulnerable edge unprotected. Pebble users have responded by creating bumper cases using 3D printers, but Pebble itself has not yet responded and has not indicated any solution to the problem. It’s particularly frustrating that Pebble offers only a 30-day warranty, although at least a few customers report that a watch with a cracked display was replaced free of charge within that warranty period.
Another problem affecting primarily the more affordable Pebble 2 Duo, and to some extent the Pebble Time 2 as well, is buttons that simply fall out of the watch. A brief teardown published on iFixit suggests that this is a quality control issue. In the disassembled Pebble Time 2, one of the four buttons is missing the clip that holds it in place inside the case. At least the repair is relatively simple. Annoying: Although the back of the Pebble Time 2 is secured with screws, the battery is soldered to the motherboard, which makes replacing the battery significantly more difficult.
