Pebble addresses Time 2 display cracks, Pebble Round 2 production to ramp up soon

After we reported on the defects of the Pebble Time 2, Core Devices has responded and revealed details about these issues in a blog post. According to the post, more than 19,000 Pebble Time 2 devices have been shipped so far. Of these, the manufacturer has replaced 330 units, or 1.7 percent, due to defects.
The most common defect is very short battery life, followed by touchscreen issues, which, however, could be resolved with a software update. 51 customers are said to have contacted the manufacturer regarding cracked display glass, while 32 users experienced problems with defective buttons. The good news: Anyone affected by one of these defects will receive support even after the 30-day warranty has expired.

Customers currently receive a free replacement for a broken display, but this offer is only valid for a limited time. In the future, customers will instead be able to order a replacement smartwatch at a significant discount, while Core Devices evaluates whether selling replacement parts is an option to enable customers to repair their devices. A solution for software issues, such as the sometimes inaccurate step and sleep tracking, is also in the works.
While Core Devices has not yet announced a timeline for these software updates, the launch of the Pebble Round 2 is drawing nearer. Production was originally scheduled to begin in May but was postponed due to a problem with the manufacturing of the case. The current plan is to begin production in the last week of July. It is expected to take about two months to produce all 14,000 pre-ordered Pebble Round 2 units.
