Google Health proving to be a headache for some Pixel users

Ever since the rebranded Fitbit app was launched on May 19, Google Health has not exactly been met with praise. In this particular Reddit sub-thread, numerous users complain about an archaic-looking app that fails to present information clearly and cleanly, that provides AI-powered insights that are either inaccurate or intrusive. To be fair, many of the comments are generic criticisms that fail to elaborate on the specifics of why Google Health is blameworthy, so these could well be competitors attempting to whip up noise. Either way, Google has attempted to remedy certain shortcomings of the app, detailing these fixes in a blog update.
Fast forward to the present: several Pixel watch users are currently experiencing a stubborn permissions error, branded with the Fitbit logo, that simply does not go away no matter what they do:
Even though the prompt requests access to sensor data, some users lament that every relevant permission is already switched on, while others note that the Health app continues to log sensor data just fine, suggesting that the warning itself is a false alarm. Others report that their data has stopped syncing entirely.
The thread does not clarify whether this is limited to a certain Pixel model or all models; the thread creator only mentions that he/she has "had this watch for over 2 years now", so it is presumably a Pixel Watch 3 or older. In any case, no solution has been found so far; even a full factory reset does not appear to solve the issue. Since it has only popped up in the last few weeks, the error message could well be tied to a recent Google Health update, as several users comment. Google itself is yet to publicly comment on the issue.
