Halo: Campaign Evolved may require an internet connection after all

Halo: Campaign Evolved recently went gold, with Microsoft putting emphasis on the fact that it would come with a physical disc. However, early reports suggest that at least the PS5 version of the game is not playable straight from the disc, as players are required to download additional game data and complete a mandatory sign-in process before accessing the campaign. The packaging itself warns that an internet connection is required for the initial setup, raising concerns among collectors who expected the disc to contain a fully playable version.
Although the remake focuses exclusively on the single-player campaign, the mandatory authentication process means the game is completely unplayable offline from the outset. Critics argue that this undermines the value of physical releases, particularly in the event of server crashes or unavailability.
Halo Studios is yet to clarify whether the Xbox physical edition will have identical restrictions. With the launch fast approaching, many fans are urging Halo Studios to reconsider the online requirements, arguing that a campaign-driven remake should remain accessible without depending on downloads or account verification.
