Xiaomi's next budget phone leak reveals design, specs and pricing amid global launch signs

Xiaomi is expected to introduce the Redmi 17 4G as the successor to the Redmi 15 4G (curr. $152 on Amazon). The upcoming budget-oriented smartphone has recently appeared on multiple regulatory databases, suggesting that a global launch is approaching.
The Xiaomi Redmi 17 4G was spotted (via TheTechOutlook) on Malaysia’s SIRIM database, carrying the model number "2606FRN72Y." Notably, the same model number previously appeared on Indonesia’s SDPPI database.
Leaked specifications and pricing of the Redmi 17 4G
In addition to the certifications, a new leak from Ytechb has revealed renders of the smartphone along with its specifications and European pricing. It is said to come in four colors: Black, Deep Blue, Oak Green, and Lotus Purple.
It is expected to feature a 6.9-inch display with a resolution of 1,600 x 720 pixels and a 120Hz refresh rate. The leak claims that the Redmi 17 4G will be powered by the MediaTek Helio G91 Ultra chipset, paired with up to 6GB of RAM and up to 256GB of storage. The device is tipped to feature a 50MP main camera and an 8MP front camera.
It may pack a 7,500mAh battery with support for 45W wired charging, a notable upgrade over the Redmi 15 4G, which features a 7,000mAh battery and 33W charging. The smartphone reportedly measures 170.12 x 78.42 x 8.8 mm and weighs 232 grams. Furthermore, the Redmi 17 4G is expected to support NFC and a side-mounted fingerprint scanner.
The leak also suggests that the 4GB/128GB variant may cost €250 (~$286), while the 256GB version may be priced at €280 (~$320). Xiaomi has not yet confirmed any details about the smartphone.
