Xiaomi Poco X8 launching globally with massive battery gain over Poco X7

Xiaomi has just launched the Redmi Note 17 and Redmi Note 17 Pro. For the time being, the pair remain exclusive to China, where they start at CNY 1,299 (~$191) and CNY 1,599 (~$236), respectively. Nonetheless, early evidence about a possible Poco rebrand has already emerged online.
Specifically, Kacper Skrzypek has observed Xiaomi adding a new Poco handset in HyperOS code. Reportedly, the company intends to release the Poco X8, which was previously said to have been scrapped. As the X post below shows, Skrzypek asserts that the Poco X8 will retain the 50 MP primary and 2 MP auxiliary lens that Xiaomi includes in the Redmi Note 17 Pro.
Skrzypek adds that the global Redmi Note 17 Pro 5G will feature an 8,340 mAh battery globally. Typically, Xiaomi ports these batteries across to its Poco-branded smartphones, as was the case with the Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G and the Poco X7 (curr. $319 on Amazon). Hence, it seems likely that the Poco X8 will contain a 63% larger battery than its predecessor.
However, our benchmarks suggest that switching from the Dimensity 7300 Ultra to the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 will yield marginal performance gains at best. Release details remain unknown for now. For context, the Poco X7 launched in early 2025 for £249 in the UK and €299 (~$342) in the Eurozone.
