Xiaomi released the Poco F8 series well ahead of usual this time out, with the launches of the Poco F8 Pro and Poco F8 Ultra in November. If history is any indication, the company is set to release the vanilla Poco F8 in the coming months, but word on the grapevine now claims that may not be the case.
According to Xiaomi Time, there may not be a Poco F8 at all. Supposedly, Xiaomi might have now limited the lineup to the Poco F8 Pro and Poco F8 Ultra, with the standard Poco F8 being phased out. The Poco F7 (buy on Amazon) was based on the Redmi Turbo 5 Pro but the outlet claims Xiaomi is working on the Redmi Turbo 5 Pro Max instead, which will then be rebadged as the Poco X8 Pro Max.
The same is said to hold true for the vanilla Poco X8 as well. While Xiaomi will launch the Poco X8 Pro as usual—effectively as a rebadged Redmi Turbo 5—Xiaomi Time claims the regular Poco X8 will not be released, leaving the lineup with two models: the Poco X8 Pro and the aforementioned Poco X8 Pro Max.
We cannot yet confirm the validity of these claims, as they seem entirely based on IMEI database registrations for the devices in question. That said, it looks unlikely that Xiaomi would completely abandon the Poco F8, with that nameplate being one of the company's most recognizable and liked, going all the way back to the original Poco F1.
