Snapdragon 8 Elite performance for $529: Xiaomi releases Poco F8 Pro globally with dual 50 MP cameras and over 6,000 mAh battery

The Poco F8 Pro is now official to replace the Poco F7 Pro that Xiaomi launched in March (curr. $589.50 on Amazon). As pre-release teasers suggested, Xiaomi's latest Pro-branded Poco F series smartphone drops to a 6.59-inch display while increasing battery capacity to 6,210 mAh. Moreover, the Poco F8 Pro leverages the same Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset as the Poco F7 Ultra.

Not only that, but the Poco F8 Pro supports 100 W wired charging for a 10 W boost over its predecessor. Although Xiaomi has dropped display resolution to 1,156 x 2,510 pixels, peak brightness has increased to 3,500 nits while maintaining a 120 Hz refresh rate. Also, Xiaomi has included LPDDR5x RAM running at 9600 MT/s, which it complements with UFS 4.1 flash storage, its 'Liquid Cool Technology' and Wi-Fi 7 connectivity within a housing that measures 157 x 75 x 8 mm and weighs 199 g.

Additionally, the Poco F8 Pro contains 50 MP primary, 50 MP telephoto, 20 MP front-facing and 8 MP ultra-wide-angle cameras. According to Xiaomi, the primary camera centres around a Light Fusion 800 sensor with a 1/1.55-inch optical format aided by OIS with an f/1.8 aperture. Meanwhile, the 60 mm telephoto and ultra-wide-angle cameras both offer narrower f/2.2 apertures.

The Poco F8 Pro starts at $579 with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage and rises by $50 to $629 for those who want twice as much storage. Please note that both SKUs are available with $50 launch discounts until December 10. As a result, Xiaomi currently sells the Poco F8 Pro for $529 or for $579 with 512 GB of storage.
