Poco F8 Pro: Is it really a good deal?

In our review, the Poco F8 Pro impressed with Bose sound, an improved camera setup, a huge battery and strong performance, aiming to take on the upper mid-range market. However, strong alternatives in the same price segment come from Xiaomi, of all places. Here's our assessment.

The Poco F8 Pro scores highly in reviews thanks to its high performance, huge 6,210 mAh battery, super-fast charging at up to 100 watts, IP68 certification and good speakers optimised by Bose. The camera has also been significantly upgraded with a dedicated zoom and already boasts flagship-level specs on paper.

However, a few compromises have to be made in view of the RRP. For example, the new telephoto lens does not feature OIS, and the ultra-wide angle delivers rather mediocre image quality. Wi-Fi 7 is on board, but without the 6 GHz band, wireless charging is missing, and only USB 2.0 is used.

Looking at Xiaomi's in-house competition, two products in this price range immediately stand out: the Xiaomi 15T and the Xiaomi 15. The former is also quite new and has a better camera setup, but in return also has a smaller battery and a weaker SoC. The current flagship Xiaomi 15 also has better camera equipment and a smaller battery, but without compromising on performance. Thanks to the LTPO panel, the 15 has hardly any shorter battery life despite its smaller battery. The Galaxy S25 is now also a strong competitor, but it falls short in terms of battery life in particular.

The Poco F8 Pro is therefore quite competitive. Sure, a few compromises have to be made, but in terms of battery life and speakers, it's at the top of its class and offers well-balanced features overall, especially since its price has already dropped significantly.
