The Xiaomi Poco F8 Pro is an ambitious premium smartphone clearly aimed at power users who expect high performance, strong endurance and a good multimedia package. At its heart is the fast Snapdragon 8 Elite, supported by 12 GB of LPDDR5x RAM, which provides very smooth system performance and high reserves for gaming and demanding apps. This is supported by a large 6,210 mAh battery, which enables long runtimes in everyday use and lasts for almost a whole day of continuous operation in a Wi-Fi scenario. Thanks to 100-watt fast charging, the energy storage device is also fully recharged in well under 40 minutes, and intermediate charges are short and practical.
The AMOLED display offers high brightness with over 3,000 cd/m² in automatic mode, a 120 Hz refresh rate and sharp images, even though the WQHD resolution of its predecessor has been omitted. The viewing angle stability is high, and the content remains easy to read outdoors. Added to this are IP68 certification, Gorilla Glass, a sturdy-looking case and Bose-optimised stereo sound that audibly enhances films, games and music. The triple camera delivers good results with its main sensor and 2.5x telephoto lens, while the ultra-wide angle remains rather weak.
Criticisms include the outdated USB 2.0 port without wired image output, the lack of wireless charging and the sometimes intrusive advertising in the software, although HyperOS 3.0 on Android 16 with long update periods is generally positive. All in all, the Poco F8 Pro is a powerful Android smartphone with a large battery, very fast charging, a bright display and powerful sound, offering a lot of technology for the money, but deliberately accepting compromises in terms of ports and convenience features.
