Earlier today, Xiaomi showcased new details regarding its forthcoming Poco F8 Ultra sub-flagship smartphone. As has already been established, the company will be launching the Poco F8 Pro simultaneously, which is likely to carry a lower MSRP than its Ultra sibling, just like the Poco F7 Ultra and Poco F7 Pro before them (curr. $595 on Amazon).
With the pair set to debut before the end of the month, Xiaomi has now confirmed that the Poco F8 Pro will be powered by last-generation Qualcomm flagship silicon. Specifically, the company has settled on the Snapdragon 8 Elite, adding to rumours that Xiaomi has rebadged the Redmi K90 for global audiences. Moreover, Sudhanshu Ambhore has underlined the two smartphones' similarities in an extensive leak.
For instance, the Poco F8 Pro is set to carry over the 6.59-inch and 120 Hz LTPS AMOLED display from the Redmi K90, as well as its 50 MP primary, 50 MP telephoto, 20 MP front-facing and 8 MP ultra-wide-angle cameras. However, Ambhore reiterates prior reports that Xiaomi will switch from a 7,100 mAh battery to one rated at 6,210 mAh that supports 100 W wired charging.
Unfortunately, an EU Energy rating only rates the Poco F8 Pro's battery for 1,000 cycles before it drops below 80% remaining capacity. Also, it seems that Xiaomi has only certified the Poco F8 Pro to IP68 outside China, despite claiming IP69 certification in its home market. While pricing remains unconfirmed for now, Xiaomi has committed to releasing the Poco F8 Pro globally on November 26.
