Earlier this week, Xiaomi surprised fans by confirming that it would be replacing the Poco F7 Pro and Poco F7 Ultra (curr. $732 on Amazon) globally before the end of the year. Subsequently, the company has revealed a few more details about the Poco F8 Pro and Poco F8 Ultra, including their reliance on high-end Qualcomm silicon. As recent leaks suggested, Xiaomi has decided to base the pair on the Snapdragon 8 Elite and Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, respectively.
Ultimately, Xiaomi will likely leave a few details about both smartphones unclear until launch day. In the meantime, leaker Sudhanshu Ambhore has detailed the Poco F8 Ultra, having also given the Poco F8 Pro the same treatment earlier today. Based on the information provided, the Poco F8 Ultra will be more resistant to drops than the Poco F8 Pro, at least from the EU's tests.
Moreover, the Poco F8 Ultra should last around just under 4.5 hours longer between charges than its Pro-branded sibling. However, this difference is likely to be narrower in real-world use. While Xiaomi bases the Poco F8 Ultra on the Redmi K90 Pro Max, the former will not receive the latter's 7,560 mAh battery.
Instead, Ambhore reiterates that the Poco F8 Ultra will drop to a 6,500 mAh battery with support for 50 W wireless and 100 W wired charging. Nonetheless, the Poco F8 Ultra is said to weigh slightly more than the Redmi K90 Pro Max despite its smaller battery capacity. Conversely, the Poco F8 Ultra should arrive on November 26 with all the Redmi K90 Pro Max's camera hardware intact, including 50 MP primary, 50 MP ultra-wide and 50 MP telephoto cameras, the latter of which offers a 5x optical zoom.
