Xiaomi is still over a week away from officially unveiling the Poco F8 Ultra. Replacing the Poco F7 Ultra after less than a year (curr. $735 on Amazon), the Poco F8 Ultra will join the Poco F8 Pro as part of a global launch event on November 26 at 08:00 UTC.
In the meantime, Xiaomi has offered a few insights into the Poco F8 Ultra and how it will differ from its predecessor. For instance, the company has now confirmed that the device will line up with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, Qualcomm's latest and greatest mobile chipset that easily outperforms the Snapdragon 8 Elite underpinning the Poco F7 Ultra. To that end, Xiaomi claims that the Poco F8 Ultra scores 3,944,934 in AnTuTu.
While impressive, this official score would fall a way short of the comparably powerful RedMagic 11 Pro Plus, OnePlus 15 and the iQOO 15, among other Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5-powered smartphones. Still, a score nearing 4 million would see the Poco F8 Ultra outperforming the Xiaomi 17, Xiaomi 17 Pro and Xiaomi 17 Pro Max in the same benchmark.
Setting that aside, Xiaomi will also use the Poco F8 Ultra to showcase its VisionBoost D8 chipset. A successor to the VisionBoost D7, Xiaomi claims that the D8 helps the Poco F8 Ultra create 'crisper, more detailed images' by using AI Super Resolution algorithms. We would recommend waiting until independent reviews arrive before passing judgement on the Poco F8 Ultra and its new dedicated graphics chipset, though.
