Xiaomi Watch 5: Elegant smartwatch with sapphire glass, eSIM and titanium band launches

Xiaomi has introduced another potential Christmas gift in China alongside the Xiaomi 17 Ultra, which features an ECG/EMG sensor and a rather sophisticated design. The flagship smartwatch is also available as an eSIM version and a 3D-printed titanium band.

Alongside the Xiaomi 17 Ultra and Xiaomi 17 Ultra by Leica Leitzphone Edition, Xiaomi has also launched the new Xiaomi Watch 5 in China. This wearable comes with a rubber band for around $285, or an eSIM version with a leather band for roughly $330. An optional 3D-printed titanium band is available for an additional $110. The four color options are shown below and include black and silver with a black or green rubber band, or a light blue or classic brown leather band.

3D-printed titanium band

Buyers who are looking for a very elegant smartwatch can grab the lightweight but sturdy titanium band, which is 3D-printed according to Xiaomi.

Features: ECG, EMG and gesture inputs

In addition to an ECG, the integrated EMG sensor can measure muscle activity of the hand and distinguishing between different finger and hand movements. This includes a pinch gesture where two fingers are rubbed together or when clenching a fist. According to Xiaomi, these can be used to answer calls, turn off alarms or take a picture with a connected smartphone.

The Xiaomi Watch 5 measures 47mm and sports a 1.54-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 480 x 480 pixels and 1,500 nits of brightness. The wearable is powered by the Qualcomm W5 chipset as well as a 930mAh battery, which is expected to offer 6 days of battery life in performance mode.

Also, the Xiaomi Watch 5 runs on Hyper OS 3 and is waterproof up to 5 ATM. Needless to say, it can measure heart rate as well as blood oxygen. While the Xiaomi Watch 5 may launch in Europe during the Mobile World Congress next March, an official launch in the US is highly unlikely.
