Huawei is rolling out a new update for the Watch GT 6 and Watch GT 6 Pro smartwatches. These models were released in Europe in September 2025, with various upgrades over the older GT 5 series wearables.
With update 6.0.0.173, the Huawei Watch GT 6 and Watch GT 6 Pro are receiving a new real-time virtual cadence feature. This metric is designed for outdoor cyclists and is calculated based on your pedalling pace. The high altitude monitoring feature has been improved, with data like heart rate and SpO2 level used to trigger alerts for potential altitude adaptation problems.
On top of this, the changelog for software version 6.0.0.173 states that the music playback feature has been optimized, though no further details are provided. Huawei indicates that the time display linked to the car key and smart lock key card swipes in the Huawei Health app has been enhanced. Plus, connectivity with third-party earbuds is also said to have been improved. The final line in the release notes states that the system stability has been optimized in “certain situations”, but these are not listed.
It appears the software version 6.0.0.173 is rolling out globally to users of the Watch GT 6 (curr. €299.99 at Amazon Germany) and Watch GT 6 Pro smartwatches. Typically, updates will be pushed to users in China first, arriving with customers in other countries in the following weeks.
