In a recently published article, we outlined Garmin's progress in 2025, primarily regarding its own wearables. Many readers are likely be familiar with Zepp Health, which operates the Amazfit brand and offers a range of various wearables that aim to provide excellent value for money. Unlike Garmin, Zepp Health is not yet a long-established player in the wearable market and is still in a phase of strong growth.
Amazfit clearly going on the offensive against Garmin
The most significant release of 2025 for Zepp Health was probably the T-Rex 3 Pro, which is definitely an alternative to the Garmin Fenix devices, but at a more affordable price. The T-Rex 3 Pro comes with a major innovation in the form of full offline map navigation on the watch. Zepp Health has also since rolled out an enhanced navigation function for the T-Rex 3, which we have already tested and reviewed. The T-Rex smartwatches are fundamentally robust and come with AMOLED displays with brightness levels of up to 3,000 cd/m².
Strong in the budget segment
Zepp Health launched new products in 2025 not only in the high-end segment, but also in the budget segment, including the Active 2, the Amazfit Balance 2 and the Amazfit Bip 6. The Active 2 is a particular highlight because it exemplifies a trend in the wearable market, namely a strong range of functionality on affordable models. In May 2025, we awarded the Amazfit Active 2 the title of "Price-Performance King". For under $100, customers get a smartwatch with offline navigation, a bright display and a partially stainless steel casing, which is more than enough for serious athletes.
New wearable formats
Last year saw the continuation of another trend in the wearable market, namely the development of new wearable formats. While smart rings really took off in 2024, 2025 saw the launch of various wearables without their own displays, but with different focuses. For example, Garmin introduced the Index Sleep Monitor, a system for analyzing sleep, while Zepp Health now offers a sports tracking system without a display in the form of the Amazfit Helio Strap.
New features, no scandals, unclear 2026 lineup
Zepp Health has been spared major scandals, but has not been not entirely free of user criticism. The official software support period is relatively short at two years, and support does not always run smoothly. On the positive side, several significant improvements were delivered in 2025 as part of free software updates, such as the BioCharge feature, the Jet Lag Manager and the integration of third-party services for training control. Amazfit wearables can now also estimate running efficiency values. Brand new and released at the turn of the year is the Active Max with a particularly long battery life. No specific information or leaks for the 2026 lineup are available yet, but there is definitely a big gap in the portfolio. Amazfit does not offer any smartwatches with LTE or even satellite connectivity, in contrast to Apple and Garmin.
