Earlier today, we noted that the rumoured Amazfit 'A2557' smartwatch was spotted online. Now, it appears that Amazfit is preparing to launch this device as the Active Max despite releasing the Active 2 Square less than six months ago (curr. $119 on Amazon).
Likely sourced from early retail data, Roland Quandt reports that Amazfit has equipped the Active Max with a 1.5-inch display, surpassing the 1.32-inch equivalent found in the Active 2. An OLED panel, the 1.5-inch display is also said to output at 480 x 480 pixels. Based on the images that Quandt has shared, the display has relatively thin bezels too, or at least ones hidden by faux chapter rings.
Moreover, Quandt reports that the Active Max is waterproof to 50 metres and features a 576 mAh battery. For context, the Active 2 achieves over a week of battery life from its 270 mAh rated capacity. Thus, we suspect the Active Max will be pushing the two-week mark when it launches.
Separately, the Active Max is said to support Bluetooth 5.3, GPS and NFC connectivity with 4 GB of built-in storage. Quandt adds that Amazfit will release the Active Max for €169.90 in the Eurozone. If the company's Active 2 pricing strategy is anything to go by, then the Active Max should reach the US for around $169.99.
