Garmin has now pivoted a recent beta update for the Forerunner 570 and Forerunner 970 (curr. $649 on Amazon) to its stable software distribution program. To recap, the company issued Beta Version 15.33 a few days ago. Prior to that, the company delivered Software Version 15.16, which should have marked the end of v15.xx software development.
However, outstanding bugs seemingly forced Garmin to return to v15.xx testing, though. First, the company issued Beta Version 15.30 before moving on to v15.33. Now, the latter has transitioned to Software Version 15.33, which Garmin is distributing as an over-the-air (OTA) update. Alternatively, one can trigger a manual installation by navigating through the Main Menu to System and Software Update before tapping 'Check for Updates'.
Currently, Garmin claims to have offered Software Version 15.33 to around 50% of Forerunner 570 and Forerunner 970 smartwatch set to receive stable updates rather than beta updates. For some reason, it is remaining coy about what changes the new update brings, though. Officially, Software Version 15.33 introduces 'various bug fixes and improvements'. As a result, it remains to be seen whether the erratic backlight behaviour reported on Garmin's Community Discussion remains in this new update.
