Garmin has begun rolling out a new Public Beta update following the introduction of Beta Version 23.41 at the end of November. This time, the company has jumped to Beta Version 23.48, which is available as an over-the-air (OTA) update for the Epix, Enduro 2, Fenix 7, Quatix 7, and Mar Gen 2 smartwatches. Conversely, Garmin notes that support for Pro variants will follow. However, the Tactix 7 and MARQ Aviator Gen 2 (curr. $1,299 - refurbished on Amazon) remain excluded from Garmin's Public Beta program.
Setting that aside, Garmin already claims to have issued Beta Version 23.48 to 100% of eligible smartwatches at the time of writing. If that is not the case for your smartwatch, then you can trigger the update's immediate installation by navigating through Menu, System and Software Update before tapping 'Check for Updates'. Primarily, Beta Version 23.48 focuses on stability improvements.
Specifically, Garmin lists fixes for an issue that prevented some paired accessories from appearing in the Sensors and Accessories menu. Moreover, Beta Version 23.48 should resolve an occasional shutdown from occurring on the PlaneSync page. The update also delivers general refinements to the iR Remote functionality, albeit without any specifics in this regard. Since Garmin has disabled Dive and ECG functionality in this release, it seems likely that more beta builds are planned before Garmin returns to issuing a long-awaited stable update.
