Garmin is currently rolling out software version 13.08 to various models in the Instinct series. However, this is a beta update; participants in the beta program are not offered the update automatically and so must actively request it. This can be done conveniently on the watch itself, eliminating the need for a complicated installation process.
The update is available for the Garmin Instinct 3 and the Instinct E, as well as for different variants such as the Instinct 3 AMOLED and the Instinct 3 Solar. The changes vary slightly depending on the specific smartwatch model. For example, only the Instinct 3 Crossover has had a single bug fixed in the calculation of the estimated remaining battery life. The Instinct 3 Solar, AMOLED and Crossover also receive improvements to their workout readiness.
All Instinct 3 models will receive minor functional changes. For example, distance can now be saved when using a rowing machine, and the smart wake-up function can now be configured. This feature uses a 30-minute window to target light sleep phases, resulting in a gentler awakening. The morning report can also now be configured. Swimmers will benefit from various resolved issues, such as problems with calorie calculation. Lastly, there are also various bug fixes related to inReach devices, such as the display of notifications.
