OnePlus has now launched the Watch Lite as a cheaper alternative to the existing Watch 3 (curr. $249.99 on Amazon). Eschewing Wear OS in favour of a proprietary alternative, the Watch Lite surpasses the Watch 3 by supporting both Android and iOS, provided you have a smartphone that runs Android 9.0 or iOS 14.0 and newer.
As expected, the Watch Lite is much thinner than the Watch 3 at 8.9 mm versus 11.8 mm. Nonetheless, the former still contains a 1.46-inch AMOLED display that resolves at 464 x 464 pixels with 3,000 nits peak brightness. Additionally, a 316L stainless steel housing protects the large display, which helps contribute to the smartwatch's 59 g weight including its black or white fluororubber strap with a stainless steel buckle.
Meanwhile, other highlights include up to 10 days of battery life, over 100 built-in workout modes and dual-band GPS connectivity. Moreover, the Watch Lite can monitor all important health metrics, including skin temperature. Unfortunately, NFC payments are missing altogether.
The OnePlus Watch Lite is available to order from today across the Eurozone and the UK for €159 and £159, respectively. However, OnePlus has decided against offering its new smartwatch in other key markets like India and the United States. Please see OnePlus' website for more details.
