A new leaked image appears to show what could be the first real look at Casio’s rumored rainbow ion-plated full-metal square, and it slightly changes the picture painted by earlier leaks. The watch is still being referred to as the GMW-BZ5000RC-1, but the execution now looks somewhat more restrained than the full rainbow case many were expecting.
Instead of a fully multicolored exterior, the case in this image appears to use a gunmetal gray base finish, which makes color show up more faintly along the edges. Blue and purple tones are visible around the case flanks and button areas, while the familiar square shape itself is largely understated. Gold-tone screws at the corners add another detail that wasn’t previously known of, or expected.
The rainbow effect looks to be pushed mainly to the inner dial frame, which shows a clear multicolor gradient around the digital display. That approach should keep the watch visually interesting without turning the entire case into a color experiment, which may explain why some early reactions have been more positive than expected.
@geesgshock also reiterates that the watch is expected to be produced in limited quantities. Pricing is still hovering around the £800 range. It is not being described as a numbered limited edition, but availability is again said to be tight enough that it won’t behave like a normal production model.
One key detail still missing is the bracelet. The leak shows the case and dial, which leaves open whether the bracelet will carry color accents or feature a more neutral finish. At this price point, that decision could matter just as much as the case itself.
None of this is confirmed by Casio just yet. Rather than going all-in on color, this version looks more controlled, and arguably more wearable.
