Casio has started selling a new gold-bezel G-Shock in the US - the design of which was first introduced through Japan-focused coverage. The watch, listed as the GBM2100CX-9A, is now available stateside with a retail price of $330.
This model is built on the 2100-series platform, often referred to as the "CasiOak," but it has visual distinctions as well. The key detail is the gold ion-plated stainless steel bezel, which features engraved artwork rather than a plain brushed or polished finish. From the official images, the engraving shows a stylized horse motif that runs around the bezel surface, which gives the watch a more ornamental look than standard GBM-2100 models.
That theme continues elsewhere as well. The caseback carries a matching horse illustration, and the packaging shown in the product images uses black-and-gold tones with the same emblem printed on the box. The design is the same as the Year of the Horse edition that was previously introduced in Japan.
Hardware-wise, this is a pretty familiar setup. The watch uses Tough Solar charging alongside Bluetooth smartphone connectivity, which enables automatic time syncing, world time management, and settings control through the Casio Watches app. The slim 2100-series case measures just under 12mm thick, uses a resin body with a bio-based resin strap, and retains 200-meter water resistance and shock protection.
Compared to standard resin GA-2100 models, the price jump is largely explained by the metal bezel and detailing, rather than any new functionality. At $330, the GBM2100CX-9A sits near the top of the 2100 lineup in the US. Since US availability is now confirmed, this release closes the gap between the earlier Japan-focused rollout and global access.
