Casio has now officially opened preorders for a new G-Shock model built around the beloved GA-B2100 ("CasiOak") platform, listed as the GBM-2100CX-9AJR. This release is part of a special New Year edition for 2026, themed around the zodiac Year of the Horse, and it features a gold-tone bezel with engraved artwork and matching accents across the dial. Preorders are live through the Japanese online G-Shock store ahead of shipping scheduled for December 2025, priced at ¥42,900 (tax included), which is around $285 USD.
The watch has the slim 2100-series profile, measuring 49.3 × 44.4 × 11.9 mm and weighing 72 g. It has way more ornate detailing than standard models. The bezel uses Gold IP finishing, and the dial’s indices and hands are presented in a gold-and-red color scheme. The rear case is engraved with a stylized horse illustration, which matches the zodiac theme - referencing the mythical "Senri-uma," a legendary horse said to run a thousand miles in a single day. Casio says the design is a symbol of strength and good luck for the new year.
Power comes from Tough Solar, and the watch supports Bluetooth smartphone linking for automatic time correction, reminders, world-time setup across roughly 300 cities, and schedule syncing via the Casio Watches app. Water resistance is rated at 20 ATM, and it includes the usual G-Shock durability features such as shock resistance and a biomass resin band and case.
The GBM-2100CX-9AJR includes a long list of everyday functions, such as world time, countdown timer, five alarms, stopwatch, battery-level indicator, power-saving mode, and dual LED lighting (backlight and dial illumination). Driving time is quoted at around seven months under normal use and up to 18 months in power-saving mode.
Packaging is also customized for the edition, featuring a matte black and gold box printed with the same horse emblem seen on the caseback. While preorder availability looks to be limited to Japan for now, past New Year releases in the 2100 series have reached global markets later in the season.
