It seems that the launch of Garmin's rumoured Index Sleep Monitor could be on the horizon. For context, early information about the wearable emerged online towards the end of last month. Subsequently, another leak provided the name 'Index Sleep Monitor', albeit without revealing what the wearable looked like.
Not only has that question now been answered by a fresh leak, but so have some of the features that Garmin plans to offer. This time, Garmin itself is the source of the leaked material, much like the Instinct 3 Tactical in April (curr. $599.99 on Amazon). However, while the company only shared a few images of the Instinct 3 Tactical, it has published a full Index Sleep Monitor promotional video ahead of schedule.
Now taken offline, the video confirms that the Index Sleep Monitor will use an Elevate Gen 5 sensor to monitor sleep stages and quality before providing an overall sleep score through the Garmin Connect app. Although Garmin's smartwatches already possess this functionality, the Index Sleep Monitor should deliver greater accuracy by all but eliminating light leakage. Seemingly, having a smartwatch is not required, despite Garmin advertising the Index Sleep Monitor as being an ancillary device.
Moreover, a standard Garmin charging port can be seen, which appears to sit beneath an ambient light sensor of sorts. On top of that, Garmin's promotional video indicates that the Sleep Index Monitor can monitor heart rate variability and SpO2 levels, too. Currently, the Index Sleep Monitor is expected to launch this summer for around €169 (~$195) in S-M and L-XL sizes. This video's appearance implies that Garmin may reveal its new wearable before spring ends, though.
