Xiaomi recently showcased the video-capturing capabilities by attaching the Xiaomi 17 Ultra to a drone and making it take a fireworks shot. The brand has also recently offered some camera samples taken by the primary sensor, and now, the focus has shifted to the periscope telephoto.
With a new round of teasers, the company has detailed the Leica 200 MP telephoto camera of the Xiaomi 17 Ultra. While the company didn't confirm whether it's the new Samsung HPE sensor, it shared that the periscope camera has a sensor size of 1/1.4-inches and can cover a 75 mm to 100 mm equivalent focal lengths.
The brand has shared some shots that showcase the capture details in each focal length step. These shots, which are attached below, are also compared to the two unnamed competing phones, and it seems that the Xiaomi 17 Ultra has the upper hand. Alongside the comparison shots, the brand has shared some portrait nighttime photographs.
These latter nighttime shots showcase how well the zoom camera handles portrait photos in low light, and they do make the Xiaomi 17 Ultra seem like a solid phone for such shots. But then again, these should be taken with some grains of salt as they are coming from the manufacturer itself.
Besides the sample and comparison photos, Xiaomi has revealed that the phone will come with something called "Red Carpet Camera mode." There aren't many details, but it promises to give a "fresh perspective" of "life's highlights" by converting it into a red carpet moment.
