Xiaomi 17 Ultra camera prowess showcased with firework drone video and photo samples
The Xiaomi 17 Ultra is set to launch soon as the company's top-end camera flagship that will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. Just after officially showcasing the design of the phone, the brand has confirmed that the smartphone will feature a 1-inch "Light Hunter 1050L" image sensor, which promises high dynamic range.
To showcase what the Light Hunter 1050L sensor is capable of delivering, Xiaomi has shared some sample shots taken by the primary camera of the 17 Ultra. These samples, which are attached below, show detail-rich captures with relatively high dynamic range and shadow details.
Through these samples, the company has also confirmed that the primary camera of the Xiaomi 17 Ultra will feature an equivalent focal length of 23 mm and an f/1.67 aperture. These are comparable to what the primary sensor of the predecessor (available on TradingShenzhen), the Sony LYT-900, had. However, the samples do hint that there's a notable improvement in the dynamic range.
Still, these samples are coming from the brand itself, and as far as pre-release phone camera samples go, companies tend not to be fully honest with these. Beyond the photo samples, Xiaomi has showcased the video capturing capabilities of the phone by strapping it to a drone and making it take firework shots.
This clip shows that the Xiaomi 17 Ultra will excel in capturing nighttime scenes, even in terms of video. But then again, this clip is also coming from the company, and it should be taken with a fair amount of salt as well.
