DJI unveils Avata 360 flagship 360° drone to take on Antigravity’s wild A1

DJI has officially marked its entry into the 360° drone market by unveiling the all-new Avata 360 drone. The company’s first-ever 360° drone comes as a direct rival to Antigravity A1 (curr. available at $1,279 on Amazon), a brand incubated by Insta360. The Avata 360 is equipped with DJI’s 1-inch imaging system, which allows users to capture footage at a maximum 8K/60 fps resolution. In comparison, the Antigravity A1 only supports 8K/30 fps.
As for the weight, there’s no information available on its overall weight at the time of writing. Like the A1, the Avata 360 also ships with DJI goggles and motion controllers, which is said to deliver an immersive 360° flight experience for FPV action. The FPV drone features two distinct lenses that can be easily switched. Besides high-resolution HDR video, the drone is capable of capturing 120 MP photos.
Furthermore, DJI’s new 360° drone offers up to 23 minutes of flight time, which is one minute less than the A1 with 24 minutes of flight time. It comes with omnidirectional obstacle sensing and integrated propeller guards. On top of this, you can now replace the camera lens of the drone thanks to the DJI Avata 360 replacement lens kit. Although you have to purchase it separately.
DJI has also incorporated its high-end O4+ video transmission system into the Avata 360, and according to the company, it ensures a transmission range of up to 20 km (12.4 miles). The rest of the features include ActiveTrack 360°, spotlight free, FPV mode, intelligent tracking, one-tap editing, and virtual gimbal1, which utilizes a 360° view to enable unlimited pan and title movements for dynamic shots. Unlike the A1 with only 20 GB of internal storage, the Avata 360 has a large 42 GB of internal storage.
As for price, the DJI Avata 360 standard bundle (drone only) starts at €459. While the DJI Avata 360 (DJI RC 2), the DJI Avata 360 Fly More combo (DJI RC 2), and the DJI Avata 360 Fly More combo are priced at €719, €939, and €939, respectively.
